Steve Davis

Steve Davis of SunHeart Metalworks has been exploring process and material all his life. He was first entranced by the creative process watching craftspeople at work at Greenfield Village, near Detroit. A summer job in 1969 at an art metal studio that primarily made store displays, was his first experience working with hot metal. After receiving a B.S. degree from the Ohio State University in 1974, Steve worked as a potter, carpenter, and welder. His interest in blacksmithing began in earnest after reading The Art of Blacksmithing, by Alex Bealer. This inspiring book led him to begin collecting old blacksmithing tools at auctions and flea markets.
